Last month I traveled to Colombia. Although I have several friends from there and know Latin America quite well I had never been in the country before. My one-week trip led me to Bogotá, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Cali and Medellín.
I am quite impressed by the country and its people. Now more than anything Colombia needs to overcome the world’s stereotypes and clichés. Still, too many people think first about drugs and kidnappings when they hear about Colombia.
The Frankfurt School of Finance & Management has a strong partner institution in Bogotá, the Universidad de los Andes. I look forward to deepening this cooperation and hope that more of our students will spend their semester abroad there.
We also visited all four German schools in the country to present Frankfurt School’s undergraduate programs. Interest was strong and our admissions officers are already in contact with several people who consider joining in 2013 or 2014.
Check out this video which was recently published by MarcaColombia to promote the image of the country abroad. It’s called “Colombia: A place full of answers”. It gives a good impression of the variety Colombia has to offer.
